What is the Eco Shift Program
Eco Shift is a voluntary demand response program that rewards you for reducing your electricity use during periods of high (peak) demand, which also helps ensure the reliability of the electricity grid. Participants agree to take part in brief (1-4 hour) events which automatically adjust settings on enrolled devices, during peak electricity demand periods. You can anticipate at least one event, and a maximum of up to 12 events throughout a season.
For more details on the EcoShift program, refer to the Eco Shift FAQs here.
Who will install my battery system?
Eguana will refer you to a trained, licensed electrician to facilitate your install. The electrician will do an evaluation of your preferred installation location and your electrical panel before quoting the job.
Does the system work with my existing solar panels?
Yes. The Eguana battery system can charge from the grid and/or from a solar photovoltaic system.
If you are planning to have a solar system installed with your battery, Eguana will gladly put you in touch with one of our solar installation partners.
What are the dimensions of the system and where can it be installed?
The battery system measures in at 44" x 41" and is wallmounted. Eguana recommends installing your Evolve LFP near an electrical panel in your basement or garage. For further information about the product, please download the datasheet or the owner's manual.
How many appliances can I power during an outage?
While your fully charged 5kW / 14kWh system can power several of your home's essential loads, it is not a whole-home backup solution. Eguana customers typically prioritize appliances like fridges and furnaces as well as network and personal entertainment devices such as internet modems, laptops, and TVs.
Your installer will work with you directly to select the devices to which you can direct power and provide a more accurate estimate based on your usage patterns.
What rebates am I eligible for?
Participants in the Eco Shift program will receive two incentives:
- A one-time enrollment incentive of currently $500 per household after being accepted into the program and;
- A participation incentive of $300/kW at the end of each event season (December to February) for each device category that had confirmed enrollment and participated in the majority of the events throughout the season.
The Home Battery Pilot provides an additional $2,500 incentive for storage if the Energy Storage System is coupled with solar. Please keep in mind that terms and conditions may change at the operator’s discretion. Nova Scotia Power customers who are on a Time-of-Day Rate are ineligible for the outlined incentives.
