Management Team
Justin Holland is a Senior Operations Executive with expertise in Integrated Business planning and Supply Chain management covering multi-site operations, global supply chain integration and P&L management. Mr. Holland brings +20 years of demonstrated excellence in strategic planning, demand planning and class A manufacturing from the high tech/electronics, food, and pharmaceutical industries including Pepsi Canada, General Mills, Apotex, and Christie Digital.
Brent Harris founded Eguana after realizing the 20th century approach to power generation and distribution had reached its limit and the future of our power system would be delivered in small distributed packages. An inventor of the Company's core technologies, Mr. Harris first led the commercialization of the Company’s products and then its early sales. He is currently responsible for Eguana's customer service, product marketing, and training programs, sets product strategy and promotes Eguana's brand worldwide. Brent graduated from Queens University in Ontario in Applied Science with a focus on power and control systems and began his career as an instrumentation engineer on international midstream oil and gas projects.
Sonja Kuehnle is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Accountant, with over 10 years’ experience in the energy, forestry, and accounting industries. In addition to working in the Calgary offices of the international accounting firm KPMG LLP, Ms. Kuehnle has served in several multi-sector finance and accounting positions within Western Canada. Ms. Kuehnle has broad based experience in external reporting and compliance and corporate governance.
Daljit Ghotra leads Eguana’s engineering team and is accountable for Eguana's development program, product designs, and technology strategy. Drawing on nearly 20 years of power system development experience spanning various applications including cellular base stations to PV inverters to energy storage systems Mr. Ghotra applies his strong understanding of power control design topologies, system applications and end user requirements to deliver industry leading distributed energy storage solutions. He holds an MSc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan.
Andreas Rückemann joined Eguana Technologies from Mercedes Benz Energy in 2018 and is responsible for Eguana's European business through its subsidiary Eguana GmbH. Dr. Rückemann has 25 years of international experience with a focus on sales and establishing long-term partnerships in large corporates as well as SMEs, including companies such as Evonik Industries, Heliatek and Mercedes Benz Energy.
Warren Gray joined Eguana to lead the company's expansion into direct sales of solar and storage systems in the Australian market. Mr. Gray brings a broad and diverse skillset managing similar businesses across Australia in the solar, energy efficiency, and air conditioning markets with vast experience on both the dealer and manufacturer side for Carrier Air Conditioning. Mr. Gray is responsible for scaling Eguana's operations for growth in Australia, including building the company's internal and partner networks nationwide through its subsidiary Eguana Pty Ltd.
Board of Directors
Mr. Powlick has been an active venture capitalist since 1995 in Silicon Valley and in Europe. He is currently a Partner at Astanor Ventures, a global impact investor across the agrifood value chain. Previously, he co-founded Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures and was head of the Strategic Investments and Acquisitions Group for Intel Corporation in Europe and the Middle East.
Mr. Penner recently retired from 40 years including as a partner with KPMG Canada in Calgary. At KPMG Mr. Penner held senior positions within the tax practice and also served on the Canada Partnership Board and as Chairman of the Compensation Committee. His community service work is well recognized and he has often lectured and been published on taxation related issues. Mr. Penner is also a director of Corridor Resources Ltd, Storm Cat Energy Ltd and Terra Energy Ltd.
Michael Carten has more than 25 years national and international experience in the energy industry most recently as Senior Vice President Corporate and Government Finance for Nesbitt Burns. Prior to that he was a senior partner with Bennett Jones one of Canada's leading energy law firms. He has represented some of Canada's largest energy companies has been an advisor to both federal and provincial governments.
Karen Hayward is an author, international speaker and a Managing Partner and CMO with Chief Outsiders, where she is responsible for building and supporting a team of world-class marketers. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Karen matches mid-market CEOs and Private Equity Portfolio managers with the best-fit Chief Marketing Officers to help accelerate top line growth. Her book “Stop Random Acts of Marketing” takes the learnings from her previous experience as a VP in both Sales and Marketing and shows mid-market CEOs how to build a strategic growth plan in the digital age to deliver compelling ROI.
Graeme Stening is Managing Partner of Doughty Hanson & Co, a UK based private equity house, with over 30 years’ experience of M&A transactions at Board level across private/public companies worldwide. He possesses a broad range of management and decision making experience at director level within a large private equity house, at fund level as an Investment Committee member/participant and at directorship level within Fund portfolio companies including in relation to litigation, executive management changes, shareholder issues, customer and supplier dispute resolution, financings and re-financings. Prior to Doughty Hanson & Co, Mr. Stening held leadership positions/gained line management experience across a broad range of company matters to achieve and exceed business expectations at BTR plc (Footsie top 10 international conglomerate) and in private practice as a corporate lawyer when at Simmons & Simmons/Pinsent Curtis/ Carter Faber.
